NAOMI is a community where healing happens and lives flourish.
While NAOMI’s mission has been vital in the Spokane region since it opened in 2004, today it is more critical than ever.
In 2023, Surgeon Health General Dr. Vivek Murthy labeled loneliness an epidemic more deadly than cigarettes or obesity and called on America to build a culture of connection. “Community is a force for health and fulfillment. It is an antidote to division and despair. We need it more than ever.” - Dr. Murthy
NAOMI is the missing piece in the social services continuum of care. Food, shelter, counseling, addiction recovery and case management are all essential, but they need to be complemented by a community of long-term healthy relationships.
This is the grace-filled mission of NAOMI.
Through the compassion of our donors, volunteers, and staff, women and their children are equipped to love and live well.

We began our journey in 2004 under the name Hearth Homes where we began serving homeless mothers and children with transitional housing and support services.
2004: The Journey Began
2019: Pivoting & Growth
We opened the door for more women and children to begin their healing journey when we discontinued transitional housing and expanded our support services to serve ANY woman seeking growth and healing.
Today we continue to be a community where healing happens and lives flourish. What began as a haven for only a few women has grown to a community of nearly a hundred women and children seeking support, direction and healing as they overcome addiction, homelessness, abusive relationships and isolation.

Why NAOMI?
As we grew in our understanding of the healing power of relationships, we changed our name to NAOMI to reflect our desire to journey with women as they heal.
Our name is inspired from the biblical account of Ruth and Naomi— two women who suffered great loss and trauma but chose to support, encourage and serve one another as they journeyed on the path of healing and rebuilt their lives.
NAOMI exists to provide women and children experiencing the pain of trauma with a grace-filled community where they can heal, grow and find hope for a better future.
Today, NAOMI provides support and direction for 100 women and their children.
What makes us different?
